Why We Like It

There are so many examples of food-based enrichment for large animals and much fewer ideas for sensory enrichment, so we're happy to have found this PVC rock rattle. This rattle is great auditory stimulation and acts as a novel item in an animal's environment. You can spray it with scents, too.

Materials

  • 1 PVC pipe (3" or 4" will work, depending on the size of your animal)

  • 2 PVC end caps to fit PVC pipe

  • PVC glue

  • Rocks

How to Make It

  1. Use PVC glue to secure one PVC end cap on one end of the PVC pipe

  2. Fill the PVC pipe with rocks

  3. Glue the other end cap onto the other side of the PVC pipe

  4. Let dry

  5. Optional- spray with scents before giving to animal
